What books gave to me

First of all I want to apologize that I haven’t posted anything since a few weeks, but school has been very stressful lately. I will try to post more the next days :)

In today’s post I want to share with y’all my book-story: What made me a reader, which series/books imprinted on me and why I love books so much. I really hope that you guys enjoy this post.

I actually read a lot when I was in primary school, but it kind of got less and less in secondary. I concentrated more on other things than on books, and whilst I read a lot of great series which stuck with me during my secondary school years (Twilight, The Hunger Games …), I wasn’t into reading at all at the beginning of 2013. I rather wanted to play video-games or do something else. But then, one faithful day, I picked up the Lord of the Rings trilogy once more (I’ve already read it when I was about 12, but I wanted to re-read it), and I got hooked within the first 100 pages. The story felt so much more intense the second time around, and in 1 week I read all three books of the series plus The Hobbit. And that was the time when my reading-obsession started. I realized that this series is so much more than just a few books, and that books in general can mean so much more than just a few pages and letters.

I started reading a lot more that time and I discovered the beauty of books. I started trying out new genres and soon also got into dystopian and contemporary books, besides high-fantasy. I went online and I started talking to people on Facebook and Twitter about the books I’ve read, and I found so many new friends through this.

Then, at the beginning of 2014 I went through a pretty hard time in my life. I won’t go too much into detail, but that time I started reading “Will Grayson & Will Grayson” by John Green and David Levithan and it helped me out of my grief. I started realizing how important books are for me, how much they can cheer me up and how they take me to another world, away from reality. With this book I also realized that books can change you. This book changed my point of view on life, on relationships and on so many other things. It showed me, how much books can influence people. And that is when I started to love books.

Since that time I am reading more and I started to love books even more every time I read a great book. I love being part of the book and fandom-community because all the people here are great and we understand each other, whilst others may think it’s strange that we love books or fictional characters. I never would want to miss any of my experiences with books and fandoms.

Feel free to share your book-story down in the comments below! I really hope you guys enjoyed this post and I will see you in the next one :)

Valentine's Day Book Recommendations

Welcome again to my Blog guys.
Today it’s Valentine's Day, and I have six book-recommendations for you that will brighten up you day, if you want to spend it with a good book.

  • ·         Forbidden (Tabitha Suzuma)

The first book I would recommend you is a rather serious book, but the romance is absolutely beautiful. It tells the story of a rather controversial topic, which is brother and sister falling in love. Nevertheless this book is beautiful, and although it’s heart-breaking, I’m sure you will enjoy it!

  • ·         Will Grayson & Will Grayson (David Levithan; John Green)

This book tells the story of two boys, who share the same name, live in the same town, and through some accident they meet and their whole live changes. In this book there are two very cute love-stories which will definitely pick you up, if you are feeling down.

  • ·         Anna and the French Kiss (Stephanie Perkins)

This book was pretty obvious: Anna and the French Kiss, or actually all Stephanie Perkins books are perfect for days like Valentines Day! It tells the story of a girl called Anna, who was forced to move to Paris, where she meets Étienne, a very charming French boy who steals her heart immediately. The love-story in the book is beautiful and definitely worth a read.

  • ·         Eleanor and Park (Rainbow Rowell)

I am reading this book currently and I absolutely love it. It tells the story of two 16 year olds, who find out that they share more things than they first thought they would. The writing-style is perfect, and I will definitely spend my Valentines Day with this beautiful book.

  • ·         Obsidian (Jennifer L. Armentrout)

Whilst the other books were all contemporary recommendations, this one is a Science-Fiction book. Obsidian tells the story of a girl named Katy, who moves to a new town where he meets the beautiful and mysterious Daemon Black. A great love-story with a lot of funny moments.

  • ·         Ruby Red (Kerstin Gier)

This book was written for younger people, but nevertheless it’s a really quick and fun read. It’s about time-travelling and finding yourself and who you are, but it also includes a very nice love-story. Definitely worth a read.

I really hope you guys enjoy these recommendations. Tell me with which book you will spend you Valentine's Day.

Review: Unite Me by Tahereh Mafi

“Light a candle for me, I used to whisper to no one. Someone
Anyone
If you're out there
Please tell me you can feel this fire.”

This Review includes two Novellas:
Destroy Me (Shatter Me #1.5) and Fracture Me (Shatter Me #2.5). Because these two books are very short I decided to do a collective-review with both books. I already posted a review on Shatter Me and Unravel Me, so make sure to check that out as well.

-Spoilers below-

Content:

Destroy Me tells the events between Shatter Me and Unravel Me from Warner’s point of view. Even though Juliette shot him in order to escape, Warner can’t stop thinking about her—and he’ll do anything to get her back. But when the Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment arrives, he has much different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner cannot allow.

Fracture Me is told from Adam’s perspective and bridges the gap betweenUnravel Me and Ignite Me. As the Omega Point rebels prepare to fight the Sector 45 soldiers, Adam's more focused on the safety of Juliette, Kenji, and his brother. The Reestablishment will do anything to crush the resistance . . . including killing everyone Adam cares about.

Cover:

As usual, I love these covers! I wouldn’t change anything about them.

My opinion:

Destroy Me
Team Warner all the way.
This book is just so amazing. You get to know more of his back-story, you get to know HIM better, you can hear his thoughts, you see how desperately he loves Juliette. It's just perfect, perfect, perfect. This changed my view on Warner completely, I can't even explain it.
Everyone should have read this before reading Unravel Me.

Fracture Me
Everyone complains about that Adam seems to be so harsh in this book, and that he doesn't love Juliette anymore or whatever. But considering what he has to go through, I can understand all his actions. I understand why he takes more care of James than Juliette. He's his brother, and wouldn't almost everyone decide this way? That their family’s safety is first? I know that some might not cope with the language as well sometimes, but I would react exactly the same, if I was in that situation. I loved the book like I loved Destroy Me, and I'm sure that I'll stick with Adam, same as I will stick with Warner. (But let's be real here; Kenji is still #1)

Conclusion:

I loved both of these novellas so much, and I am glad that I was able to read them.

Review: Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

“Books are easily destroyed.
But words will live as long as people can remember them.”

Content:

Juliette is still haunted by her deadly touch. But now that she has teamed up with other rebels with powers of their own, she'll be able to fight back against The Reestablishment to save her broken world. With the help of these new allies, she'll also finally learn the secret behind Adam's—and Warner's—immunity to her killer skin.

Cover:

The cover is, same like the cover of the first book, very beautiful. I prefer these covers so much from the rest of the cover-versions.

My opinion:

This is the second part of the trilogy, so if you don’t want to be spoiled check out my review for the first book.
I already loved Shatter Me, but I enjoyed this book just so much more. But let’s start from the beginning: the writing-style. Same as in the first book, I absolutely loved the writing. It was so poetic and amazing, I can’t describe it. You have to read it in order to understand what I mean. Tahereh is truly the queen of words. The story also developed amazingly. I didn’t except the things which happened and the major plot-twist in the middle of the book (not going to spoil it though) was so unexpected and mind-blowing! What I loved most about this book were the characters and how they developed. I especially loved Kenji and the back-story of his life which we got to see a little bit in this novel. Aaron was amazing too, and after Destroy me you can’t just help but stick with him. The only character, who kind of annoyed me sometimes, was Juliette, because I just didn’t understand her thoughts or decisions sometimes. But nevertheless, I enjoyed the book really a lot!

 Conclusion:

A perfect sequel to the first book. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

The Twilight Tag

Today I will do the Twilight-Book-Tag!

I wanted to do this tag for ages, since I’m a huge Twilight-Fan, and today I finally got around doing it! I really hope you guys enjoy it.
This Tag was created by Natasha; here is the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJi-FC6iml0

Let’s start with the questions!

1. What movie and book is your favorite?

I really love Eclipse. I think it’s the most action-packed and also most romantic one. However, I also really enjoy Breaking Dawn Part 1 as a movie.

2. What has your experience been like with Twilight?

My cousin read the book when I was about 13 and she recommended it to me. That time, I wasn’t really a big reader, but I tried it out anyway. And omg, I’m so glad I did! I just finished the series when the first movie came out, so I experienced the whole Fangirling experience from the beginning on!

3. Favorite character?

I love both, Edward and Bella, but I’m going for Benjamin for this question. He is a really interesting character, and if you know his back-story, it makes him even more lovable.

4. Team Edward or Jacob?

Edward all the way. There is no Team Jacob for me.

5. Your favorite Cullen (other than Edward)

I really love Carlisle. He is so gentle and careful and lovely. He would be a perfect father.

6. Favorite song from the soundtrack? Or favorite soundtrack?

My favorite song is Northern Lights. It is so beautiful, although you can’t really hear it well in the movie. It’s a great song!

7. How often do you watch a Twilight movie?

I actually do Twilight-marathons monthly, so I watch all the movies every 4 weeks or so. (Twiharding at it’s best, ohh yes)

8. Would you rather be a vampire or a werewolf?

Vampire all the way. It would be amazing to have super-speed and be invincible and all that kind of stuff.

9. What vampire power would you want?

Bellas power is really great, but I would also really like to have Edwards power sometimes. If I could creat a new power, I would really want to be able to teleport to other places.

10. Most embarrassing thing you did because of Twilight?

Is almost passing out when seeing an Edward poster in the local cinema a embarrassing thing? I think so …

11. A part that made you cry in the book and in the movie?

I think we will all answer the same thing here. New Moon, when Edward left Bella. It wasn’t necessarily when he left her, but when the months passed, and we saw Bellas life being just like blank pages. It shows how empty Bellas life was after Edward left. It broke my heart.

12. Name all of the movies from your favorite to least favorite.

Eclipse
Breaking Dawn Part 1
Twilight
Breaking Dawn Part 2
New Moon (too less Edward, just saying)

I really hope you guys enjoyed this tag.
Feel free to answer these questions yourself. :)
